Do not look down on others

This is a poem that I wrote, which I hope will change some people's perspective in life.

Do not look down on someone
Just because you are better off than him
For who are you to judge him?
How would you feel if someone else look down on you?

Do not look down on someone
Just because you came from a better high school/university than him
He may have better working experiences than you
You may even need his help one day

Do not look down on someone
Just because his educational level was lower than yours
He may have better working experiences than you
You may have gained some experience in your industrial attachment
But he was already industrial attached!

Do not look down on someone
Just because you are richer than him
Just because he needs your help
For one day you may need his help in other areas of life

Do not look down on someone
Just because he is down and out
For he may not be down and out forever
One day he will rise up
And become better and stronger than ever

Do not look down on someone
Just because you are more beautiful than her
For her life may be happier than yours
She may better than you in other areas of life

Do not look down on someone
Just because you can speak better than him
He may better than you in other areas of life
For one day you may need his help in other areas of life
Even if you don't need his help, who are you to look down on him?

Do not look down on someone
You will be irritated whenever you see him
He will be irritated whenever he sees you
For he will know that you have looked down on him
By your speech or actions

Do not look down on someone
Who are you to look down on him/her?
What have you gained by looking down on someone?
Do you feel happy by looking down on someone?

If you look down on someone
Indirectly you are also looking down on his Creator
Because he was made on His image.

  1. This is so true. I don't think anybody has the right to judge or prescribe how others should live their lives, for we don't know what happened in their pasts that prompted them to make certain life choices. As the saying goes: 'Don't judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.'

It is unfair to judge others. After all, nobody is perfect.

  3. Very wise words! My mom always had a good one, she would say, Rather you should not speak at times and let others think you are ignorant than to open your mouth and let them know for sure! Kind of a mean thing to say but she was referring to when you dont know what your talking about dont argue ever. period.
